Nicki Kemp (she/her)
Clinical Psychologist
BPsych (Hons) MClinPsych, Grad Cert in Autism Diagnosis
Nicki is a highly experienced psychologist who has been working in the field for over 25 years. She is also the director of the Northwest Psychology Practice. In recent years she has had a particular interest in understanding and working with neurodiverse folks. Her current focus is offering neuroaffirming autism assessments for teens and adults. She has a particular passion for assessing people who have ‘fallen through the cracks’ - those whose autism was not recognised when they were young, but who are now coming to understand that they may be neurodivergent.
In addition Nicki offers ADHD assessments for adults, with an emphasis on a detailed feedback after the assessment is complete. This feedback is intended to not only help you understand the results, but also to understand yourself, the way that ADHD has been affecting your life and the options you have for managing it.
“There are a whole cohort of adults (especially women) whose ADHD or autism was not recognised in childhood, but who continue to be very much affected by it. Seeking a diagnosis in adulthood is a brave thing to do. Finding out the truth can be a relief. It can also bring with it some grief on behalf of your younger self, as you come to grips with the way these issues have affected you throughout your life, and the way that others may have misinterpreted or misunderstood you. It is my goal to offer an assessment service that supports you and honours your experience.”
